After careful consideration of the ideas of several different sources and the opinions of my fellow employees, I have determined the best answer to why, when, and how to conduct safety meetings:

  • Safety meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month.
    • This will allow employees (as well as those in charge of the meetings) to get into a routine of attending the meetings. The first Wednesday of each month is easy to remember and will remain consistent.
  • There will be lunch catered for those who attend.
    • When I surveyed the employees, 100 percent of them stated that they would absolutely attend if food is offered. This food incentive program will ensure attendance and participation in the monthly safety meetings.
  • The lab manager will be in charge of conducting the safety meetings.
    • The safety knowledge of the typical employee tends to range depending on history and age. The lab manager is in that position because of experience and expertise. Also, the lab manager is in a position of authority and will be given more respect and attention throughout the meeting.
  • The safety topic will be chosen from OSHA’s list of safety topics and precautions and will include all necessary information contained from the webpage.
